Privacy notice
In short
- We store three things: your account, the requests you post, and your profile.
- Your contact details are shown only to the bookkeeper who picks a request up, and to that request's business.
- Payments and contracts happen off the site. BookkeepLx is a board: bookkeepers choose requests. We don't set rates or assign work.
01Who we are
BookkeepLx is a bilingual (English / Portuguese) board for Lisbon. Small businesses post bookkeeping needs; freelance bookkeepers browse them and choose which ones to pick up. BookkeepLx decides how the data on this site is used, so we are its controller under the GDPR.
We don't set rates, assign work, rank people or supervise anyone's work. Each bookkeeper decides which requests to pick up, and each business decides whether to go ahead.
02What we store
We store three kinds of information, and nothing else.
Your account
- Your name and email address, and whether you've confirmed it with a code.
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash. We can't read it.
- Your account type (business or bookkeeper) and your language (EN or PT).
Your requests
- What you post: the service, the description, your business type, budget, the language it's written in, the contact details you add, and its status (open, picked up or closed).
- Which bookkeeper picked it up, and when.
Your profile
- What you choose to add: your display name, rate, phone or WhatsApp number, email, short bio and the languages and specialties you work in.
- For bookkeepers, an OCC registration number if you add one. You declare it; we don't check it.
We don't store payment card details, invoices, tax documents or your company's accounts.
03Who sees what
On the board
The request itself: service, description, business type, budget and language. Never your name, email or phone.
After a pick-up
The bookkeeper who picks a request up sees that business's contact details, and the business sees the bookkeeper's. Nobody else does.
Other bookkeepers and other businesses never see your contact details. We look at stored data only when we need to run or fix the site, or when the law requires it.
04Payments and contracts
Price, contract, invoices and payment are agreed directly between the business and the bookkeeper, off the site, usually on WhatsApp or by email. BookkeepLx takes no part in them. We don't charge a fee, hold money, or see those conversations.
05Emails and cookies
We email you only about your account: the 6-digit code to confirm your email and the code to reset your password. We send no newsletters or marketing.
One cookie keeps you signed in. Your EN / PT choice is saved in your browser. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
06Who helps us, and for how long
A hosting provider runs the site and its database, and an email-sending service delivers our codes. They process data only to provide those services to us.
We keep your data while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account, profile and requests, except anything the law requires us to keep.
07Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, get a copy, or object to how we use it. If you think we've handled your data badly, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD (Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados).
